About the position

The Hardware Design/Automation Engineer role at Actalent involves designing and developing test equipment and infrastructure to support research and development activities for products. The position requires collaboration with engineering teams to ensure that test equipment meets various requirements and involves the use of software tools for automation and design.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop test equipment and infrastructure to support R&D activities for products.
  • Create detailed electrical panel schematics, system/panel layouts, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and harness schematics.
  • Use Altium to design and implement PCBs for test equipment.
  • Develop Python scripts and applications to automate test processes and controls.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure test equipment meets electrical, mechanical, and software requirements.
  • Select and specify components to meet design criteria and project objectives.
  • Collaborate with engineering technicians and contract manufacturers to check wiring, I/O functionality, redline implementation, and configuration of test equipment.
  • Interact with design and firmware teams to integrate firmware/PCBs and hardware.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with team members and cross-functional teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to test equipment and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python programming.
  • Experience in hardware design (generalist).
  • Knowledge of control automation.
  • Background in electrical engineering.
