About the position

Virtium is seeking a Level 1 Computer Hardware Design Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This position is ideal for recent graduates or those with limited experience who are eager to learn and grow in the field of hardware design. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with senior design and test engineers, technical marketing, and production engineering teams to design, qualify, and support our cutting-edge solid-state drive (SSD) and industrial memory solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in hardware design and development while contributing to innovative projects that drive our business forward. As a Level 1 Hardware Design Engineer, you will undergo a comprehensive training program that will equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in your role. You will assist senior engineers in the design, testing, and validation of new SSD and memory products, providing you with invaluable insights into the product development lifecycle. Additionally, you will work alongside the field applications engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve customer design-in and field issues, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance. Your responsibilities will also include defining and developing tools to accelerate the qualification and testing of all functions in Virtium solutions. You will gain an in-depth understanding of compliance, qualification, and compatibility issues related to SSD and memory solutions, which are critical to our success in the market. Furthermore, you will be involved in developing designs based on requirements documents, allowing you to apply your technical knowledge and creativity to real-world challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Successful completion of Virtium hardware design training program
  • Assisting senior engineers in design, test and validation of new SSD and memory products
  • Assisting field applications engineering team to resolve customer design-in and field issues
  • Defining and developing tools to accelerate the qualification and test of all functions in Virtium solutions
  • Gaining an in-depth understanding of compliance, qualification, and compatibility issues related to SSD and memory solutions
  • Developing designs from a requirements document

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree in electrical computer engineering or equivalent
  • One to three years industry experience, including co-op or internship, preferred
  • Strong electronics background course work or equivalent experience
  • Programming knowledge a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to learn the use of logic and bus analyzers and oscilloscopes
  • Strong logical analysis and debugging skills
  • Ability to read, follow and understand schematics
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership, meet goals and fulfill schedule commitments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Technical writing skills a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to challenge the system to affect an environment of constant improvement
