About the position

The Hardware Design Engineer 4 position at Protingent involves working as a Silicon IP Characterization Engineer, focusing on the validation and characterization of high-speed CMOS D2D and SERDES interfaces. This contract role requires a blend of hands-on lab work, software development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the performance of cutting-edge silicon technologies.

Responsibilities

• Execute silicon validation and characterization of high-performance, low power CMOS D2D and SERDES silicon interfaces.
• Bring up, validate, and characterize high-speed D2D and SERDES blocks in new and existing silicon chips.
• Develop test methods to evaluate performance and calculate operating margins of high-speed serial interfaces across various conditions.
• Collaborate with design teams to improve testability and define test infrastructure logic.
• Write software routines (e.g., Python, C/C++) to validate D2D and SERDES IPs and integrate drivers with software teams.
• Analyze test results and document findings to provide insights and recommendations.

Requirements

• 8 years' experience with bringing up, validating, and characterizing high-speed D2D and SERDES blocks in silicon chips.
• 8 years' experience developing test methods for evaluating performance of high-speed serial interfaces.
• 8 years' experience writing software routines (e.g., Python, C/C++) for D2D and SERDES IP validation.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of high-speed D2D and SERDES architectures (e.g., NRZ, PAM4) and protocols.
• Experience with test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and BERTs.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Microsoft technologies is preferred but not required.
