About the position

As a Hardware Design Engineer in the Board and System Design team at Google Cloud, you will be responsible for leading hardware systems projects aimed at developing solutions for current and future data center deployments. This role involves collaboration with various teams to ensure that product goals are met, designs are manufacturable, and systems are properly verified and supported in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a sub-system and hardware design on data center hardware products.
  • Bring up systems and execute engineering validation in the lab.
  • Gather requirements, define high level architecture, and execute hardware design and product validation.
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, product, and deployment teams to productize designs and provide field support.
  • Drive product from concept to production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience working in enterprise hardware systems design, or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience with hardware bring up, debug, system validation, and testing.
  • Experience with data center and enterprise hardware products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 7 years of experience with enterprise class hardware systems design.
  • 1 year of experience in technical leadership.
  • Experience with data center engineering, server, storage and networking products.
  • Experience solving complex system issues, technical innovation, and driving technical roadmap.
  • Experience with FPGA/CPLD design, interfacing with other disciplines including firmware, software, signal integrity, thermal, power and mechanical.
