About the position

The Hardware Design Engineer II position is a critical role within our engineering team, located in our Dallas office. This position involves designing, modifying, and analyzing electronic circuits using industry-standard tools such as Orcad and PADS. The engineer will be responsible for creating and modifying wire harness and cable drawings, as well as generating Bills of Materials (BOMs) and initial prototypes. A significant part of the role includes collaborating with PCB layout designers to ensure that design constraints are met and that the layout adheres to specifications. In addition to design responsibilities, the Hardware Design Engineer II will perform safety analyses and write comprehensive reports on new products to ensure compliance with safety standards. The engineer will work closely with contractors to implement specifications for new designs and facilitate the release of new products. Collaboration is key in this role, as the engineer will interact with mechanical engineers to define design fit and with firmware engineers to debug and identify hardware or firmware issues. The position also requires hands-on skills, as the engineer will work with technicians to make design modifications and changes. Soldering skills are necessary for making modifications when required. The engineer will conduct failure analyses on production or customer units, testing and verifying solutions to issues, and writing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to implement these solutions. The ability to manage multiple design project tasks simultaneously is essential for success in this role.
