About the position

As a Hardware Design Engineer, Level 2 at Avid Technology, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of new products and processes, as well as the improvement and maintenance of existing products. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with other engineering personnel to ensure that designs are interrelated and that projects are completed efficiently. You will conduct design analysis on components and assemblies, ensuring that designs are cost-effective, manufacturable, and reliable. In this position, you will apply ASIC or FPGA place and route (P&R) tools using various libraries to create physical implementations of designs. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining documentation for the P&R design flows. A significant part of your role will involve de-processing electronic components and retrieving stored firmware or software through approved reverse engineering procedures. You will work closely with tool and library vendors to develop solutions for design challenges faced by designers. Additionally, you will integrate new P&R tools, updates, and ASIC or FPGA design libraries into the Government's computer-aided design environment. Documenting the use of these tools and libraries will be essential, as will assisting other physical designers in completing their specific P&R design tasks. As a senior member of the team, you will lead the design of new products and processes, provide technical leadership to less experienced engineers, and develop improved procedures for de-processing electronic components.
