About the position

In this role, the candidate will work within the Mac Hardware organization in the area of SerDes I/O validation for Mac Platforms. This will include I/O Compliance flow bringup, and execution of Apple's iPad Input Devices group is seeking an extraordinary senior electrical engineer to develop and ship the next generation of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) hardware (Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard). This is an electrical engineer position that entails working with, and leading cross-functional teams on the design, implementation, integration and qualification of Human Interface Devices. Come join us! The hardware engineer will be part of the team designing the iPad accessories. The engineer will be involved on those accessories from the architecture stage, to the design and validation phase, all the way until the products get released to customers, working on the following.

Responsibilities

  • Schematic capture and handling PCB layout design of the electrical system, including power management, micro-controller, wireless communication, sensor integration and component selection.
  • Execution of the design in high-volume, including characterization and validation across all development builds.
  • Authoring of detailed engineering requirements specifications.
  • Working with and leading suppliers/manufacturing partners including overseas build support.
  • Work with and present to cross-functional leaders for project reviews and discussions.

Requirements

  • Strong EE background in analog, digital, power and PCB design
  • Hands-on experience in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification and manufacturing support
  • Successful track record of working closely with Mechanical Engineering, Firmware, PCB design, and DFM
  • Bachelors or higher degree, and 4+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering or similar field

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with sensors (e.g. touch, force, pressure), wireless communications (Bluetooth), low power design, inking technologies, and wireless charging
  • Experience designing high volume, high quality consumer electronic products
  • Experience leading a technical team
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
