About the position

As a Hardware Design Engineer at Actalent, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of test equipment and infrastructure that supports research and development (R&D) activities for various products. This position requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering and hardware design, as you will be responsible for creating detailed electrical panel schematics, system/panel layouts, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and harness schematics. You will utilize Altium to design and implement printed circuit boards (PCBs) specifically for test equipment, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary specifications and requirements. In addition to hardware design, you will develop Python scripts and applications aimed at automating test processes and controls, enhancing the efficiency of testing procedures. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with engineering teams to ensure that the test equipment aligns with electrical, mechanical, and software requirements. You will also be tasked with selecting and specifying components that meet design criteria and project objectives, which requires a keen understanding of both the technical and practical aspects of hardware design. Your responsibilities will extend to collaborating with engineering technicians and contract manufacturers to verify wiring, I/O functionality, and the implementation of redlines, as well as the configuration of test equipment. Interaction with design and firmware teams will be essential for integrating firmware/PCBs and hardware effectively. Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with team members and cross-functional teams will be vital for the success of your projects. Additionally, you will troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to test equipment and infrastructure, ensuring that all systems operate smoothly and efficiently.
