About the position

The Hardware Design Engineer at Northern Digital Inc. (NDI) is responsible for the detailed design and development of electromagnetic tracking systems, contributing to innovative medical device solutions. This role involves collaboration with a cross-functional R&D team to ensure the successful implementation of hardware designs from conception to execution, while adhering to internal development standards and documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design to NDI's internal development standards and produce associated technical documentation to meet design control requirements, including documenting requirements and specifications.
• Collaborate and integrate designs with the embedded system software group.
• Prepare material and participate in peer reviews.
• Define and develop appropriate tests for the embedded designs.
• Ensure timely completion of projects, striving to meet or exceed project milestones.

Requirements

• BS or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in hardware design.
• Experience in circuit and layout design and review for mixed signal circuits.
• Familiarity with lab equipment used for circuit analysis and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of signal processing concepts.
• Experience with ARM processors, FPGA design, wireless/Bluetooth design, and digital interfaces.
• Familiarity with Python, Linux, and Altium.
• Experience with Agile frameworks including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
• Strong personal organization and communication skills.
• Capability for generating technical design documentation.
