About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer II at Amazon Robotics, you will be responsible for developing innovative hardware designs for robotic systems and enhancing existing hardware to optimize performance. This role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to bring product designs from concept to production, ensuring that the designs meet customer needs and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to bring product designs from concept to production
  • Maintaining, redesigning, and adapting holistic hardware solutions for ambiguous problems with fluid requirements
  • Collaborating with Operation partners and cross-functional teams to gather design requirements and feedback
  • Writing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
  • Exhibiting role model behaviors of thorough engineering analysis and full lifecycle ownership

Requirements

  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • SolidWorks or similar CAD experience, understanding of best practices for part design, advanced assemblies and complex configuration management
  • Thorough understanding of principles, theories and concepts in mechanical engineering and ability to apply them to product design
  • Hands-on experience crafting and evaluating proof-of-concept models and prototypes
  • Ability to effectively communicate concepts and write technical documents

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
  • Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
  • Experience with creating designs that improve customer experience through optimization of human interfaces and ergonomics
  • Experience leading product enhancements that improve performance of existing products
  • Proficiency documenting designs in accordance with ASME Y14.5
  • Experience designing and debugging tooled (cast, injection molded, sheet metal, etc.) components or robotically welded assemblies
  • Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software and ECO's
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate well with teams
