About the position

The Hardware Development Engineer II at Amazon Prime Air is responsible for supporting the testing and verification of hardware, as well as the design and development of avionics products. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure hardware qualification and reliability, while applying state-of-the-art technologies to solve real-world delivery challenges. The engineer will lead verification testing, conduct structural analyses, and generate detailed designs to support high-volume production.

Responsibilities

  • Verification testing, systems level testing and validation of requirements.
  • Working cross functionally with hardware, software, and test teams to achieve hardware qualification.
  • Reliability modeling and testing.
  • Support design activity including providing early analysis using FEA techniques.
  • Lead and assist with Systems and Component Level verification.
  • Generate detailed designs with 3D CAD assemblies/components and 2D drawings as deliverables.
  • Conduct static, dynamic, modal structural and thermal analysis as needed to support design work.
  • Deliver efficient designs capable of high volume production throughput (DFM, DFA).
  • Documentation and presentation of materials for technical design reviews.
  • Design and support test campaigns, both development and qualification/acceptance, for avionics hardware.
  • Develop systems engineering artifacts including design documentation, interface control documents, requirements.
  • Documentation for test campaigns such as test plans, procedures and test cases.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with prototyping and implementation.
  • Develops systems engineering artifacts including design documentation, interface control documents, requirements.
  • Performs subsystem integration work, including testing component level and architectural systems requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools.
  • Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume.
  • FEA and Reliability analysis.
