About the position

As a Server Hardware Engineer at AWS, you will be responsible for designing and building next-generation server systems and AWS-specific hardware components. This role involves collaborating with various teams to execute product designs from concept to production, ensuring high performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness. You will work in a fast-paced environment, tackling complex technology challenges and contributing to the continuous improvement of AWS's hardware offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Design server platforms and AWS-specific hardware components.
  • Collaborate with internal development teams and external suppliers to deliver new servers.
  • Drive execution in defining and delivering new products and services.
  • Lead the integration and delivery of servers, supporting automated monitoring and failure analysis services.
  • Work closely with AWS software teams to tailor and operate server solutions for the AWS environment.
  • Support the launch of servers into production and the operation of the server fleet.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in server level design for compute, storage, or complex product design.
  • 2+ years experience leading ODMs and suppliers in product development and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
  • Experience in board and server root cause analysis and resolution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in complex product development such as servers or network switches.
  • Expertise in early product definition and feature tradeoff analysis.
  • Expertise in product development disciplines such as thermal, mechanical, power, FW/SW, reliability, and sustaining.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
  • Proficient scripting, debug abilities, and Linux operations commands.
  • Experience deploying and operating hardware and applications across large data centers.
  • Experience leading hardware and software development engineering teams.
  • Experience with hands-on debug of hardware systems using analyzers, oscilloscopes, and JTAG.
