About the position

The Hardware Electrical Engineer Intern position at Cooper Lighting Solutions offers an exciting opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the field of electrical engineering. This internship, based in Atlanta, GA, runs from February 3 to May 16, 2025, and involves collaborating with the Wireless Controls Team to conduct testing and qualification of controls hardware. Interns will also engage in automating design verification testing and supporting various testing processes, all while contributing to innovative lighting solutions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Wireless Controls Team to conduct testing and qualification of controls hardware.
• Gain knowledge of lighting protocols such as DALI and 0-10V, including their design pros and cons.
• Automate Design Verification Testing (DVT) to improve efficiency.
• Support Passive Infrared (PIR) testing and range testing, while understanding basic RF knowledge.
• Perform soldering and lab testing with qualification on controls hardware.

Requirements

• Current student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of electronics circuit design and testing, including Opamp, BJT, MOSFET, and DC-DC.
• Hands-on testing experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMM, power supply, and Spectrum Analyzer.
• Proficient in using schematic and layout tools like Mentor Graphics, Cadence, or similar tools.
• Understanding of RF wireless technology and IoT projects is a plus.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future company sponsorship needs.
