About the position

The Hardware Electrical Engineer for the Google Pixel Watch team will play a crucial role in designing and delivering innovative consumer electronics. This position involves driving system electrical engineering design, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to the development of custom silicon solutions that enhance user experiences. The engineer will be responsible for the entire product lifecycle from concept to mass production, ensuring high performance and efficiency in the final product.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal teams to evaluate and select components and new technologies for next generation products based on product vision and end-user experiences.
  • Design, develop, and review systems and sub-components from concept to mass production.
  • Perform detailed development to bring designs to mass production by setting factory test requirements and assisting in software bring up.
  • Travel on-site to manufacturers to ensure designs are built and tested successfully.
  • Create system specifications and plan/lead validation of designs.
  • Lead complete functional verification, signal characterization, power modeling/test, and system coexistence testing.
  • Drive resolution of cross-functional issues related to architecture, production, and development.
  • Work with suppliers/manufacturing partners to establish relationships for future product designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in the consumer electronics industry and embedded system design.
  • Experience with lab equipment such as digital multimeter, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscope, power supply, and data logger.
  • Experience with prototype bring-up, debugging, function and performance verification and validation, and manufacturing support.
  • Experience in circuit board level design engineering including chipset, memory, high speed interface, power supplies, Cadence/Allegro and PCB/Flex technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of experience with system development in consumer electronics/embedded design.
  • Experience in SOC/MCU, power management, mixed circuits, and sensor integration.
  • Experience with system integration with software development from firmware through system level.
  • Experience with various communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, USB, MIPI-DSI) and standard Radio Frequency/Wi-Fi interfaces.
  • Experience working with OEM/ODM/JDM/CM partners.
  • Understanding of product development process for mass-volume production design.
