About the position

This position involves working as part of a diverse team at Google to develop custom silicon solutions for consumer electronics, specifically focusing on the Google Pixel Watch. The role emphasizes innovation in hardware design, integrating advanced technologies to enhance user experiences. The engineer will be responsible for system electrical engineering design, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive design, prototyping, testing, and data acquisition processes.

Responsibilities

• Work with internal teams to evaluate and select components and new technologies for next generation products based on product vision and end-user experiences.
• Design, develop, and review systems and sub-components from concept to mass production.
• Perform detailed development to bring designs to mass production by setting factory test requirements, assisting in software bring up, and traveling on-site to the manufacturer to ensure successful design build and testing.
• Create system specifications and plan/lead validation of designs.
• Lead complete functional verification, signal characterization, power modeling/test, and system coexistence testing.
• Drive resolution of cross-functional issues related to architecture, production, and development.
• Work with suppliers/manufacturing partners to establish relationships for future product designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience working in the consumer electronics industry and embedded system design.
• Experience with lab equipment: digital multimeter, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, oscilloscope, power supply, data logger, etc.
• Experience with prototype bring-up, debugging, function and performance verification and validation, and manufacturing support.
• Experience in circuit board level design engineering including chipset, memory, high speed interface, power supplies, Cadence/Allegro and PCB/Flex technologies.

Nice-to-haves

• 5 years of experience with system development in consumer electronics/embedded design.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: SOC/MCU, power (DC-DC converters, battery and power management), mixed circuits, sensor integration.
• Experience with system integration with software development from firmware through system level.
• Experience with various communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, USB, MIPI-DSI), standard Radio Frequency/Wi-Fi interfaces at chipset, baseband, and antenna integration levels.
• Experience working with OEM/ODM/JDM/CM partners.
• Understanding of product development process for mass-volume production design, focusing on design for manufacturing and design for test.

• Base salary range of $122,000-$178,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
