About the position

HII Mission Technologies (HII MT) is seeking a talented Hardware Engineer 3 to join our team in Roanoke, VA. This position is part of our Cyber & Electronic Warfare business group, which plays a crucial role in supporting our nation's intelligence and cyber operations. Our team specializes in reverse engineering and microelectronics trust and assurance, providing a unique opportunity for engineers who enjoy a flipped engineering environment. In this role, you will utilize in-house software tools to reverse engineer hardware assets provided by the U.S. government. This involves analyzing hardware structures such as embedded processors, DSPs, filters, transceivers, data links, and decoders to determine their operational parameters and capabilities. As a Hardware Engineer 3, you will be responsible for performing hardware analysis and reverse engineering of Department of Defense (DoD) assets. You will produce clear documentation that explains the components, capabilities, and features of the systems you analyze. The role requires effective collaboration with teammates to produce cohesive results and improve processes. You will also be expected to use HII proprietary tools, FPGA vendor tools, and third-party EDA tools for modeling, simulation, and analysis of targeted systems. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and be willing to obtain a DoD security clearance if they do not already possess one. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware design and verification, particularly with FPGA design and embedded system design. Familiarity with EDA tools, hardware hacking, side-channel attacks, and failure analysis will be highly valued.
