About the position

Semper Valens Solutions is seeking a Hardware Engineer to support a newly awarded five-year contract focused on intelligence, sensors, and analytics at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance and involves working on-site in Belcamp, MD. The Hardware Engineer will be responsible for the setup and configuration of IS&A hardware, continuously identifying and assessing hardware requirements against the software needs of fielded systems. The role includes conducting trade studies to evaluate hardware options that are nearing the end of their life cycle, testing and evaluating hardware components, and documenting the results of these evaluations. The Hardware Engineer will collaborate with supporting vendors to identify replacement hardware systems and ensure their integration onto the CHS# contract, making sure that the hardware is procurable. Additionally, the engineer will provide analyses and assessments of engineering change proposals (ECPs), functional and physical configuration audits (FCAs/PCAs), and first article or production qualification testing. The role also involves testing to determine the feasibility of designs and ensuring maximum compatibility with existing systems. The engineer will apply industry best practices in C5ISR architecture-based processes, frameworks, tools, and architecture views/viewpoints. This includes familiarity with the Department of Defense (DOD) Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and IEEE 1471-2000 standards. The position requires a detailed-oriented individual with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as direct experience in the design, development, integration, and analysis of hardware projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support the setup and configuration of IS&A hardware.
  • Continuously identify hardware requirements and assess them against the software needs of fielded systems.
  • Conduct trade studies to assess feasible options for hardware entering their end-of-life phase.
  • Test and evaluate hardware components and document the results.
  • Work with supporting vendor(s) to identify replacement hardware systems and integrate them onto the CHS# contract.
  • Provide analyses and assessments of engineering change proposals (ECPs), functional and physical configuration audits (FCAs/PCAs), and first article or production qualification testing.
  • Provide testing to determine if a particular design is feasible and to achieve maximum compatibility.
  • Apply industry best practices in C5ISR architecture-based processes, frameworks, tools, and architecture views/viewpoints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Electronic, System or Computer Engineering; Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years related work experience is required.
  • Direct experience in the design, development, integration and analysis of hardware projects.
  • Proficiency with hardware test protocols, virtual software applications such as VMWARE and common operating systems such as UNIX/RedHat Linux and Windows.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written, skilled in mechanical engineering, electronics engineering for Space, Weight, Environmental and Power or Electromagnetic Interference or Compatibility.
  • Experience in developing policy on protection of program technologies.
  • Drafted and had approved Security Classification Guides.
