About the position

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full-time Early Career Hardware Engineer to join our high-performing team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting or participating in the research, design, development, and testing of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) or custom computing hardware and other electrical components. You will develop designs for the installation of these components and assemblies into various environments, including chassis, racks, cabinets, workstations, customer facilities, and shelters. Your work will directly support the operations of the Space Based Infrared Systems (SBIRS) mission, which is critical to our national security and defense initiatives. As an Early Career Hardware Engineer, you will plan, direct, review, and coordinate the preparation of project documentation to ensure that both customer contract and company requirements are met. You will also be tasked with providing real-time resolution of problems to minimize system downtime. This involves monitoring, analyzing, troubleshooting, restoring outages, performing maintenance, and tracking issues. Your contributions will be essential in delivering Ground System Capabilities that support our space assets, making a significant impact on the missions we undertake. Responsibilities

  • Conduct or participate in the research, design, development, and testing of COTS or custom computing hardware and/or other electrical components.
  • Develop designs for the installation of components and assemblies into chassis, racks, cabinets, workstations, customer facilities, and/or shelters.
  • Plan, direct, review, and coordinate preparation of project documentation to ensure customer contract and company requirements are met.
  • Support operations of the Space Based Infrared Systems (SBIRS) mission.
  • Provide real-time resolution of problems to avoid and/or minimize system downtime by monitoring, analyzing, troubleshooting, restoring outages, performing maintenance, and tracking issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Experience integrating technical solutions at customer locations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to learn new skills in a dynamic environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Skills in one or more adjacent domains to hardware installation and integration.
  • Skills in hardware installation and integration.
  • Demonstrated project management and/or leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with equipment assembly and/or fabrication, integration & test.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings (CAD, Visio, MATLAB).
  • Open, eager, and excited for both hands-on work and computer work.
  • Ability to obtain Secret or Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Entry-level engineering experience.
