About the position

Our Raleigh, NC scientific research and engineering client has asked The Maven Group to help find a talented Electrical Engineer to join a growing team. This role will directly improve the situation awareness and performance of US soldiers on the battlefield. Be part of a great mission and work on some very cutting edge projects. The chosen engineer will help develop custom hardware and firmware solutions supporting a variety of applications, including augmented reality technology. Specifically, our client is looking for engineers that have the ability to design complex embedded systems including schematic capture, PCB layout, and FPGA register-transfer level (RTL) development and simulation. Relocation to Raleigh, NC area is required. For up to the first several months of employment, expectation is full-time in the office. A hybrid work environment can be supported after the initial period with working from home 2 - 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Develop custom hardware and firmware solutions for various applications.
  • Design complex embedded systems including schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Conduct FPGA register-transfer level (RTL) development and simulation.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve situational awareness and performance of US soldiers on the battlefield.

Requirements

  • US citizenship required.
  • Eligibility to apply for and hold a U.S. security clearance.
  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the development of custom circuit cards.
  • Experience in FPGA RTL design and simulation.
  • Experience with standard lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience designing circuit cards with high-speed interfaces, including an understanding of best practices for PCB design for signal and power integrity.
  • Experience designing circuit cards with high-density interconnect technologies, including blind / buried vias.
  • Experience with VHDL.
  • Experience with Xilinx SoC FPGAs and Vivado.
