About the position

The Hardware Engineer, Epitaxy Metrology role at Google involves developing custom silicon solutions for next-generation display technology. The position focuses on driving metrology learning and techniques, scaling toolsets for volume production, and collaborating with various engineering groups to innovate hardware experiences that enhance performance and efficiency. This role is part of Google's Raxium display group, which is pioneering semiconductor materials technology for augmented reality and light-field displays.

Responsibilities

  • Employ existing and invent novel metrology methods to drive exceptional process development of monolithic display technology.
  • Work with external tool suppliers for both new equipment development and improved analytical capabilities.
  • Use best practices for metrology and measurement tool control and improvement, including driving a routine calibration program, measurement systems analysis (including gage R&R), and SPC.
  • Aid in the early adoption of best practices in process control by documenting techniques, training technicians and engineers, and engaging in continuous improvement of metrology procedures.
  • Drive deep understanding of toolsets and analyses to make the most out of measurement data while also minimizing impacts to cycle time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with Metrology, Optoelectronics, Semiconductor Engineering, and Data Analysis.
  • 2 years of experience working in a Hardware technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience with software development.
  • Experience with JMP.
  • Experience with algorithms.
