About the position

As a Hardware Engineer II Intern at Cisco, you will be immersed in a dynamic and innovative environment where you will contribute to the design and development of hardware that powers the internet. This internship will provide you with hands-on experience in areas such as ASIC design and verification, system/board design, circuit board layout, hardware automation, validation and testing, signal integrity, and power design. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams to determine infrastructural needs and product specifications, ensuring that your innovative ideas are translated into powerful solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly with customers, gaining insights into their networks and the challenges they face. Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of hardware products from circuit design to system integration.
  • Engage in ASIC design and verification processes.
  • Participate in system and board design activities.
  • Assist in circuit board layout and hardware automation tasks.
  • Conduct validation and testing of hardware components.
  • Analyze signal integrity and power design requirements.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define product specifications.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficient understanding of hardware engineering principles and experience with hardware design tools and software (e.g., CAD tools, simulation software).
  • Familiarity with hardware testing and debugging techniques.
  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work toward long-term goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in establishing and sustaining positive relationships with an extended team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud technologies and data center operations.
  • Knowledge of networking principles and protocols.
  • Familiarity with Internet of Things (IoT) concepts.
  • Understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
