About the position

Our client is currently seeking a Hardware Engineer, III Title: Power Systems Specialist. The team is dedicated to rapidly decarbonizing the electric grid, with a mission to create a shared understanding of grid operations for all stakeholders involved in its management and usage. As a Power Systems Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Grid Planning Tool team, focusing on Transmission and the Chilean grid. This position involves close collaboration with our Power Systems Specialist in Chile and one of the major grid operators in that country. You will engage with both external partners in Chile and internal engineering and product teams to ensure effective communication and project success. In this role, you will be responsible for providing remote partner support for CEN alongside a Senior Power Systems Specialist. You will partner with Product & Engineering teams to meet partner milestones and collaborate with UX and Testing teams to gather feedback and provide partner support. A key aspect of this position will involve translating Spanish to English to address partner needs effectively. This multifaceted role requires a blend of technical expertise, communication skills, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner support (remotely) for CEN with Senior Power Systems Specialist
  • Partnering with Product & Engineering to meet partner milestones
  • Collaborating with UX and Testing teams for feedback and partner support
  • Translating Spanish to English for partner needs

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in power systems work
  • Experience working with simulation software such as power flow, dynamic simulation, and electromagnetic transient programs (e.g. PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP, PSCAD, CYME, etc.)
  • Experience in electrical simulation including system modeling, numerical methods, solver choices, performance optimization, or solution analysis
  • Experience with electrical circuit modeling, control systems, power electronics, switching converters and inverters, or electric machine models
  • Knowledge of numerical methods such as nonlinear/linear differential equations, differentiation and integration, solving systems of equations, time discretization and simulation
  • Skilled and efficient programmer in scientific programming languages (e.g., Matlab, Python, JAX, C++, Julia, etc.) with a desire to expand into new areas of coding languages and processes
  • Fluency in Spanish
