Responsibilities

  • Design schematics for microcontroller-based building automation and control systems.
  • Produce printed circuit board layouts for microcontroller-based systems.
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers to ensure designs are production-ready.
  • Evaluate compatible component cross matches or substitutions to reduce lead times.
  • Develop test methods for validation and quality control checks in collaboration with the testing department.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot failure tendencies in production and post-delivery.
  • Develop product packaging in 3D environments for various installation requirements.
  • Create shipping packaging and procedures for reliable product protection.
  • Manage time effectively across multiple concurrent projects with minimal oversight.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Participate in educational opportunities to advance professional knowledge.
  • Perform maintenance and updates on existing designs and layouts.
  • Assist embedded project engineers on specific projects as needed.
  • Verify products pass and maintain current certification standards.
  • Assist the testing department in developing test procedures and fixtures.
  • Support Sales Marketing in developing technical documentation and specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware design and development.
  • Proficiency in designing schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Experience with microcontroller-based systems and building automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to monitor production failures.
  • Familiarity with certification standards such as UL and Title 24.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal oversight.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with 3D modeling software for product packaging.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
