About the position

Legrand is seeking a talented Hardware Engineer III to join the DPC/ZPE Systems team in Fremont, CA. This role involves designing, developing, and testing hardware systems for advanced network management products. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure hardware solutions meet high standards of quality, performance, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hardware designs for network management solutions, including routers and serial consoles.
  • Assist with circuit design, PCB layout, and component selection for high-performance hardware.
  • Collaborate with contract manufacturers to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Coordinate with firmware and software teams for seamless hardware integration.
  • Build and test hardware prototypes, refining designs based on test results.
  • Conduct measurements and analyses to verify design integrity and compliance with industry standards.
  • Work closely with contract manufacturers to resolve technical issues during production.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to optimize cost, performance, and reliability of products.
  • Create detailed documentation, including production documents and test reports.
  • Work with certification labs to attain necessary certifications and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware design and development, preferably in the networking or telecommunications industry.
  • Proven experience with circuit design, PCB layout tools, and debugging.
  • Strong knowledge of digital and analog circuits, power management, and high-speed signal design.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes like SMT and injection molding.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers or ODMs for hardware development.
  • Familiarity with product testing and validation processes, including EMI/EMC testing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with IoT devices, edge computing, or data center hardware.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese.
