About the position

The Hardware Engineer III position at BCforward involves hands-on work with optical hardware prototypes, requiring a strong background in firmware, data analytics, and hardware development. The role is contract-based and located onsite in Redmond, WA, with an anticipated start date of December 16, 2024. The engineer will operate various hardware components, troubleshoot issues, and train moderators on prototype usage.

Responsibilities

• Operate optical hardware prototypes including PCB boards, electrical flexes, cameras, and LEDs.
• Utilize existing software tools, running command line scripts and GUI, and demonstrate familiarity with on-demand servers.
• Perform basic software and hardware troubleshooting, including restarting hardware and understanding command line scripts.
• Train moderators on how to use prototype devices.
• Drive to and from campus to vendor sites for weekly checks on prototype devices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in hardware engineering with a strong firmware and data analytics background.
• Familiarity with common programming languages and commands.
• Strong software skills, particularly in optics and hands-on hardware operation.
• A degree in Software or Electrical Engineering is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with optical hardware prototypes.
• Familiarity with command line scripts and GUI tools.
