About the position

The Hardware Engineer Intern will play a crucial role in the design, simulation, modeling, and testing of hardware security solutions. This position involves working with various tools and software, including SPICE simulators, Vivado, Ansys HFSS, GNU Radio, and Altium for PCB design. The intern will be expected to engage in hands-on development and testing, contributing to projects that enhance hardware security measures. This role is ideal for students who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting and gain valuable experience in the field of hardware engineering. The intern will collaborate with experienced engineers and participate in team meetings to discuss project progress and challenges. This position is part-time and located in Baton Rouge, LA, providing a flexible opportunity for students to balance their academic commitments with professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and simulate hardware security solutions using SPICE and other simulation tools.
  • Model and test hardware components to ensure functionality and security.
  • Collaborate with team members on various projects related to hardware engineering.
  • Utilize Altium for PCB design and development.
  • Engage in hands-on testing and troubleshooting of hardware in customized testbeds.

Requirements

  • Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5; GPA must be listed on the resume for consideration.
  • Classroom-level experience programming in VHDL, SystemVerilog, Verilog, Python, or SPICE.
  • Basic understanding of circuit theory and design principles.
  • Completed coursework related to electronics is required.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance is mandatory.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with FPGA development using HDL in a Vivado environment.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience in analog/digital and PCB design.
  • Understanding of RF fundamentals and communication principles.
  • Experience with hardware testing for functionality or in a testbed environment.
