About the position

The Hardware Engineer Intern at MACOM will assist in the development, fabrication, debugging, and documentation of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for high-speed applications. This internship offers hands-on experience, professional training, and the opportunity to work on a business-critical project over a 12-week period, while also engaging in networking and feedback sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in PCB Board definition by collecting inputs from users and drafting a Board Requirements Document (BRD).
  • Review the BRD with users and obtain their sign-off.
  • Create symbols for new components in schematic design.
  • Consult with designers and application engineers for circuit design around the device under test.
  • Select components and design circuits such as power management and I2C/SPI control circuits.
  • Capture schematics using Mentor's xDX Designer.
  • Create decals for new components using AutoCAD and Mentor's PADS.
  • Assist in the layout of the board using Mentor's PADS.
  • Prepare documents for PCB fabrication.
  • Assist in creating a costed Bill of Materials.
  • Update the components database as required.
  • Verify power circuits and low-speed communication in lab tests.
  • Debug the design.

Requirements

  • Background in Electrical Engineering.
  • Familiarity with office productivity tools such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD tools and procedures used for PCB design and fabrication.
