About the position

As a Hardware Engineer Level 2 at Jacobs Technology, Inc., you will play a crucial role in shaping the Cyber, Security, and Intelligence space. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about contributing to mission-critical projects that directly impact national security and intelligence missions. You will be involved in supporting the daily operations of a semiconductor assembly facility, working closely with the design team to analyze complex hardware systems, designs, architectures, and network configurations. Your expertise will be essential in developing next-generation devices that meet the rigorous demands of the intelligence community. In this role, you will provide in-depth analysis of hardware systems and designs, ensuring that all technical issues are addressed effectively. You will be responsible for procuring equipment, performing acceptance testing, and providing both preventative and remedial hardware maintenance support. Your duties will also include deploying, installing, and implementing hardware solutions, as well as preparing detailed specifications based on documented and derived system requirements. Conducting site surveys and preparing engineering plans and Technical Design Packages will be key components of your responsibilities. You will organize and direct hardware installations, ensuring that all problems are properly identified and that solutions meet user requirements. Your ability to prepare comprehensive reports and recommendations regarding existing and emerging hardware technologies will be vital in guiding the team towards effective solutions. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to excellence in hardware engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise to analyze complex hardware systems, hardware design, architecture, network design and other technical hardware issues.
  • Procure and perform acceptance testing on equipment, provide hardware maintenance support, both preventative and remedial as well as, deploy, install, and implement hardware.
  • Prepare specifications for the hardware by analyzing documented and derived system requirements, conduct site surveys, and prepare engineering plans and site Technical Design Packages.
  • Organize and direct hardware installations and prepare site installation and test reports.
  • Ensure that problems have been properly identified and solutions will satisfy the user's requirements then prepare reports and recommendations concerning existing and emerging hardware technologies.
  • Prepare functional requirements and specifications for hardware acquisitions.
  • Analyze hardware specifications and system/subsystem requirements to conceive and document a practical design for hardware components.
  • Assist with preparing installation guides, field test procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Conduct site surveys; assess and document current site network configuration and site-unique requirements.
  • Develop hardware installation schedules based upon set-up, integration, and test timelines.
  • Train site personnel in proper use of hardware.
  • Prepare drawings documenting as-built configurations at each site.
  • Design and verify test harnesses/simulated interfaces for all test and integration phases.
  • Analyze operational data to identify choke points, failure modes, and other data for design or maintainability improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Fourteen (14) years' experience as a Hardware Engineer analyzing complex hardware systems for SIGINT solutions is required.
  • Five (5) years of additional hardware engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
