About the position

As a Hardware Engineer Intern at Cisco, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a diverse and creative team dedicated to designing the hardware that powers the internet. You will engage in various product categories, including cloud computing, mobile/wireless technologies, video, VoIP, and the Internet of Things, among others. Your contributions will span from low-level circuit design to large system design, allowing you to see your work transition into large volume manufacturing. The internship will provide you with hands-on experience in several creative hardware engineering areas, including ASIC Design and Verification, System/Board Design, Circuit Board Layout, Hardware Automation, Validation and Test, Signal Integrity, and Power Design. This is a unique opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical setting, enhancing your skills and understanding of hardware engineering fundamentals. You will be expected to manage multiple tasks effectively, demonstrating strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize your work towards long-term goals. Responsibilities

  • Impact product development from circuit design to large system design.
  • Contribute to hardware engineering projects in areas such as ASIC Design and Verification, System/Board Design, and Circuit Board Layout.
  • Engage in Hardware Automation, Validation and Test, Signal Integrity, and Power Design tasks.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Science, Material Engineering, Applied Physics, Math, Physics or related major.
  • Proficient experience in hardware engineering areas such as ASIC Design and Verification, System/Board Design, Circuit Board Layout, Hardware Automation, Validation and Test, Signal Integrity, and Power Design.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering fundamentals and technical analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work toward long-term goals.
