About the position

The Hardware Engineer, Principal position at Chenega Military, Intelligence & Operations Support (MIOS) involves designing, developing, modifying, evaluating, and implementing hardware systems crucial for the success of US Space Force and commercial space customers. This role supports large-scale government operations and requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure effective project execution. Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, modifies, evaluates and implements new and existing hardware systems.
  • Supports the lead engineer with the technical aspects of a project and the supporting multi-disciplined project team.
  • Supports Systems Engineering for both the Eastern and Western Ranges in a Subsystem Lead capacity.
  • Researches, designs, develops, modifies, and implements highly complex capabilities for Range support hardware systems.
  • Assists with the development of complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Supports complex Level 1, 2, and 3 testing to qualify hardware systems for Range operations.
  • Plans, conducts, and assists in the execution of projects.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements design approaches for products and/or processes.
  • Coordinates the efforts of technical support personnel for assigned projects.
  • Analyzes, develops, recommends and implements approaches to meet Range requirements.
  • Reviews literature, patents and current practices to support business requirements and/or new industry technology.
  • Prepares reports regarding new technology to communicate to appropriate personnel.
  • Evaluates component suppliers and vendor capabilities.
  • Acts as liaison with approved vendors/suppliers to maintain product/process availability and working relationship.
  • Serves as an interface for project information to internal management and the customers.
  • Develops an understanding of Range radars, including transmitters, receivers, antennas and control systems.
  • Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
  • Assists Depot with problematic repairs of Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).
  • Provides expertise to level 2 requests for engineering assistance to restore operational systems.
  • Identifies, documents, and prioritizes Radar and Optics subsystem needs/deficiencies/inefficiencies.
  • Supports the development of Return on Investment (ROI) data in support of identified needs/deficiencies/inefficiencies.
  • Supports the development of risk statements.
  • Provides systems engineering oversight and leadership for products and/or processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Five (5) or more years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience working with Windows based computer systems and components and Office tool suite.
  • Experience providing inputs to complex project proposals within defined time constraints involving multi-discipline teams.
  • Fundamental knowledge of hardware systems integration and testing.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the engineering lifecycle and systems engineering processes.
  • General knowledge of instrumentation systems troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in use of specialized test equipment including but not limited to VOMs, spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes.
  • Fundamental knowledge in technical writing for development of technical reports (White Papers) and other technical support documentation.
  • Familiarization with computer systems including single-board (SBCs), servers, and workstations.
  • Familiarization with the Linux and Windows Operating systems.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, which includes U.S. Citizenship or U.S. naturalization.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
