About the position

The Hardware Engineer Program Manager II at Microsoft is responsible for driving technical hardware programs from inception to launch within the Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team. This role focuses on managing complex project schedules, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget while maintaining high quality standards. The position requires collaboration with various functional leads and a deep understanding of product requirements and interdependencies to deliver impactful results.

Responsibilities

  • Drive technical hardware programs from requirements through launch, managing complex project schedules and removing roadblocks.
  • Align key stakeholders and manage projects through milestones to completion on schedule and in budget, ensuring uncompromising quality.
  • Lead a virtual team of functional leads from hardware and software engineering, sourcing, supply chain, networking, and datacenter operations.
  • Document a clear Plan-of-Record (POR) for new product development and lead the project team to meet stated milestones.
  • Understand product technical requirements, milestones, deliverables, and interdependencies to establish an effective project infrastructure.
  • Leverage engineering skills to solve problems and achieve objectives through a cross-functional team.
  • Communicate and present program plans and status to management.
  • Navigate and lead others through complex technical challenges and business issues to deliver impactful results.
  • Report meaningful status and supporting detail to senior leadership and other internal stakeholders.
  • Embody the company's culture and values.

Requirements

  • Experience in managing hardware engineering projects from inception to launch.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
