About the position

The Hardware Engineer role focuses on supporting a Failure Analysis (FA) debug group, emphasizing hands-on board debugging and failure analysis rather than product development. The position requires expertise in low-level diagnostics and the use of various diagnostic tools to identify and resolve board-level failures, particularly in high-speed digital systems.

Responsibilities

  • Running diagnostics and interpreting results to debug board-level failures.
  • Debugging SerDes link failures with attention to test equipment and specific components involved.
  • Using diagnostics to identify problems and locate issues at the board level.
  • Applying appropriate test equipment to measure and pinpoint faulty components.
  • Supporting silicon evaluation, silicon bring-up, and test efforts on pre-production boards.
  • Collaborating with other teams for corrective actions on hardware failures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in development and debugging of at least 2 high-speed digital boards from concept to production, focusing on failure analysis and board-level diagnostics.
  • Strong knowledge of 25G+ SerDes operation, including debugging link failures and using appropriate test equipment (e.g., TDR, scope logic analyzers).
  • Expertise in leading-edge microprocessor-based reference design for high-speed digital boards.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed components (e.g., FPGAs, PHYs, Retimers, PCIe Switches, POL designs) and board debugging techniques.
  • Familiarity with optical components (10-25G+ optics) and high-speed digital interfaces, focusing on FPGA and SerDes debugging.
