Randstad Digital is seeking a Hardware Engineer for a long-term contract position based in Longmont, Colorado. This role is pivotal in the development and design of hardware architecture, focusing on signal integrity and power supply design. The successful candidate will engage in modeling and simulation for high-speed signaling implementations and power supply design, including power distribution network (PDN) simulations. The position requires a strong background in hardware engineering, particularly in the context of solid-state drive (SSD) products, and the ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams to ensure that designs meet firmware, diagnostic, and system-level requirements. In this role, the Hardware Engineer will participate in architecture definition, design reviews, and the generation of requirements for SSD products. Responsibilities include performing basic signal and power integrity measurements, documenting and communicating results with cross-functional counterparts, and simulating and analyzing design proposals. The engineer will also review results and provide recommendations on optimal design practices to other design engineers. A key aspect of this position is the experience in designing hardware for large-scale manufacturing, which includes considerations for design for excellence (DFx) and cost efficiency. The Hardware Engineer will take complete ownership of the SSD hardware throughout the product lifecycle, which encompasses hardware design, worst-case analysis, simulations, schematic capture, and de-rating. Additionally, the role involves defining PCB back-end processes, including stack-up and via technologies, part placement, setting design constraints, and conducting signal and power integrity analysis. The engineer will work proactively with team members during design and verification phases, as well as addressing return merchandise authorizations (RMAs).
