About the position

The Hardware Engineer position at Lockheed Martin Space involves providing onsite engineering support for classified defense communication systems. The role requires system analysis, problem resolution, and technical leadership, particularly in integrating and maintaining various hardware components. The engineer will work in a classified environment, contributing to the design and configuration management of ground systems, while also supporting military personnel in technical matters.

Responsibilities

  • Providing onsite engineering support to a classified system used for defense communications.
  • Performing system analysis and problem resolution, system design, and configuration management.
  • Conducting configuration updates, troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation for ground systems.
  • Resolving trouble tickets and providing device configuration and crypto device support.
  • Providing technical leadership and direction to Air Force personnel.
  • Integrating new downlink telemetry equipment, networking hardware, and telecommunications equipment.

Requirements

  • Experience with hardware design and documentation.
  • Experience interpreting cable drawings.
  • Experience building/terminating Fiber Optic cables and copper.
  • Experience with integration and system troubleshooting.
  • Ability to install up to 50 pounds of equipment.
  • Ability to ascend/descend up 4-5 steps.
  • Current DoD SECRET security clearance required.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including overnights and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to operate spectrum analyzers, firebird test sets, and oscilloscopes.
  • Knowledge of electronic theory, networking techniques, and telecommunications systems.
  • Current or previous assignment to a satellite communications program.
  • Experience repairing mechanical systems such as large parabolic dish antennas.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting system level problems with networked data processing systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in working outside of the U.S. on classified military networks.
  • Experience in local and wide area network troubleshooting.
  • Experience with configuring satellite downlink antennas.
  • Ability to utilize hand tools for mechanical assemblies.
  • DOD 8570 Compliance (security +, etc.).
  • COMSEC/Crypto experience (KIV, KS-252, etc.).
  • Experience operating or maintaining VoIP systems.
