About the position

The Hardware Engineer position at TE Connectivity focuses on the electrical design, simulation, and verification-validation testing of high-speed products in cable assemblies. This role is crucial for ensuring high-speed communications and connectivity within datacenters and wireless infrastructure. The engineer will work independently on hardware design and validation projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge product designs. The position requires expertise in electrical performance from initial analysis through prototype fabrication and production verification testing.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in high-speed data, electronics design, simulation, and validation activities throughout product development cycles.
  • Establish electrical design performance and functional requirements for new products.
  • Lead product development of high-speed cable assemblies from conception to manufacturing.
  • Conduct component selection, schematic design, PCB layout, and product validation testing.
  • Create actionable recommendations based on design reviews and simulation results.
  • Make data-driven decisions regarding product functionality and areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in a high-speed hardware engineering role.
  • Proficiency in electronic design and analysis tools such as Altium PCB, ADS, Ansys Designer, and Ansys HFSS.
  • Experience with cable/cable assembly designs, including high-speed twin-ax cables and direct attach copper (DAC) cables.
  • Familiarity with high-speed test equipment like Digital Sampling Oscilloscope, Vector Network Analyzer, and Bit Error Rate Tester.
  • Knowledge of signal conditioning techniques such as equalization and amplification.
  • Experience in component selection, schematic capture, and printed circuit board design.
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory and electrical circuit behavior.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret simulation and lab data to identify and solve issues.
  • Experience in project leadership across design, development, and manufacturing teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work in a global environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with embedded systems and ANSI C.
  • Knowledge of SFF/IEEE specifications for high-speed cable assemblies.
  • Familiarity with PAM4/8 and other higher-order modulation techniques.
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodologies or a strong data analytics background.
