About the position

The Hardware Engineer position is a contract role based in Irvine, California, requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience in electronic circuits and systems design, integration, and testing. The role involves working with various electronic systems, including RF systems and motor drives, and requires proficiency in using standard lab test equipment. The engineer will assist in the design and development of electronic systems, write test plans, and conduct lab and field tests. Familiarity with project engineering methods and troubleshooting techniques is essential, along with strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of electronic systems.
• Write or assist in the development of test plans and procedures.
• Assist in the automation of relevant test procedures and design test fixtures.
• Conduct lab and field tests of electronic systems.
• Utilize standard lab test equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
• Collaborate with interdepartmental teams and work independently as required.

Requirements

• B.S.E.E. degree from an accredited university or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in electronic circuits and systems design, integration, and testing.
• Knowledge of analog circuit design, digital electronics design, and digital signal processing.
• Experience with RF systems or motor drives and controls is desirable.
• Familiarity with OrCAD, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or VHDL.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience and training in the military/aerospace industry.
• PCB layout experience.
• Familiarity with AS9100 standards.
• Professional and/or technical certifications from accredited institutions.
