About the position

The Hardware Engineer position at Coherent Corp. involves developing and testing Coherent transceivers as part of a collaborative design team. The engineer will primarily own the hardware aspects of the design, working closely with designers from other disciplines. Responsibilities include conducting design reviews, defining architectures for assigned products, and evaluating product performance to implement enhancements. The role requires independent work on hardware design and development tasks, including the evaluation of optical and RF components, RF design, analog and digital design and simulation, PCB layout, and design verification testing and troubleshooting. The engineer will also be responsible for developing hardware for transceiver modules according to schedules and target dates, documenting digital control requirements for firmware designers, and coordinating hardware development with firmware, manufacturing, testing, and other groups. Familiarity with industry standards and customer requirements is essential, as is the ability to evaluate future requirements and define the necessary hardware architecture. The engineer will also provide training and support to Coherent personnel in their area of expertise and interact with critical customers to provide technical support as needed.

  • Perform training and support of Coherent personnel in field of expertise
  • Interact with critical customers to provide technical support, as needed

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent field
  • Proficient in OrCAD and PADs software tools
  • Experience in analog / digital design and simulation
  • Experience in PCB layout
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with Optical Components is a plus
  • Experience with Agile software is a plus
