About the position

As a Hardware Engineer at SEL, you will play a crucial role in the development of devices that are embedded in the power grid, contributing to the prevention of blackouts and enhancing the safety and efficiency of outages. Your responsibilities will include analyzing, designing, and developing both conventional analog and digital circuits. You will conduct moderate to complex design reviews to ensure the robustness of products and circuits, and you will be responsible for developing hardware specifications and preparing system-level specifications. In this position, you will write and analyze test plans, execute tests, and evaluate test results, which will be essential for peer design reviews. You will also prepare and maintain comprehensive product documentation, including data sheets, instruction manuals, and design and test documentation. Managing and leading hardware projects of moderate complexity will be part of your role, as well as coordinating engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing teams. Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, designs, and develops conventional analog and digital circuits.
  • Conducts moderate to complex design reviews to demonstrate product and circuit robustness.
  • Develops hardware specifications and prepares system level specifications.
  • Writes and analyzes test plans, executes tests, and evaluates test results for use at peer design reviews.
  • Prepares and maintains product documentation, including data sheets, instruction manuals, design and test documentation.
  • Provides and maintains accurate project plans.
  • Manages and/or leads hardware projects of moderate complexity.
  • Coordinates engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically 2+ years of combined experience in at least 2 of the following areas: Analog circuit design, digital design with microprocessors, power supply design.
  • Strong emphasis on simulation/tool driven design and circuit validation methods (SPICE, Ansys EM, HyperLynx, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures.
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following: Industrial controls, 3-phase electric power systems, SI/PI analysis, bed of nails In-Circuit Test design.
