About the position

The Hardware Engineering Manager at Vantage MedTech will serve as a subject matter expert in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, assisting Engineering Directors in talent development and establishing effective engineering processes. This role involves managing a team of 10-15 engineers focused on medical device product development, ensuring project resources are planned and allocated efficiently, and fostering a strong team culture aligned with the company's core values.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage a team of 10-15 Electrical and Mechanical Engineers focused on electromechanical medical device product development.
  • Lead the team in supporting product realization from early conceptualization through sustainable manufacturing.
  • Plan and allocate team project assignments to meet staffing needs.
  • Recruit and hire qualified candidates to support company needs and expand the team.
  • Manage and evaluate the performance of direct reports, leading their professional growth and performance improvement.
  • Build a strong culture within the hardware engineering team that aligns with the company's core values.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain tools and standard practices for efficient work.
  • Execute strategic initiatives as defined by the Director of Engineering.
  • Set high standards of collaboration across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to instill robust design for manufacturing practices and supplier relationships.
  • Establish design standards to improve consistency and efficiency of custom component designs.
  • Analyze existing designs to identify opportunities for cost and reliability improvements.
  • Assist with projects as a technical subject matter expert or in a Program Management capacity.
  • Support the development of business-winning proposals in cooperation with the Vantage team.
  • Manage budgetary costs and activities for the hardware engineering team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Related Engineering field.
  • 6+ years of product development engineering experience with 2+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role.
  • Proven ability to manage an engineering team and provide constructive feedback.
