About the position

The Hardware Engineering Manager at Antech Diagnostics will lead the development and engineering improvement efforts for veterinary diagnostic products. This role involves managing a small team of engineers and collaborating with an embedded software development team to create small-footprint opto-mechanical instrumentation and consumables. The manager will oversee both in-house design and development as well as support OEM teams, ensuring that critical business objectives are met through effective project management and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and engineering improvement efforts for veterinary diagnostic products.
  • Manage a team of engineers and support embedded software development.
  • Prioritize activities for the engineering team across various projects.
  • Foster the growth and development of staff engineers through mentoring.
  • Serve as the technical lead on cross-functional teams.
  • Interface with R&D, Operations, and Process Development to meet business objectives.
  • Partner with Project Management and Quality Assurance to deliver innovations.
  • Identify and implement technical solutions to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
  • Investigate and resolve technical obstacles efficiently.
  • Coordinate technical evaluations and support of OEM development partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience managing engineering projects from concept to commercialization.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience managing, developing, and mentoring direct employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple parallel projects effectively.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent design software.
  • Outstanding communication skills for effective team collaboration.
  • Knowledge of stage gate and agile design methodologies.
  • Experience with Risk Management and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
  • Background in Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485).
  • Experience with product verification strategy and testing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronics design tools (e.g., Altium).
  • Familiarity with embedded software interfacing.
  • Optical engineering background and experience with optical systems.
