About the position

Badger Meter is seeking a Firmware and Electronics Engineer II to join our innovative team in Collegeville, PA. This position plays a crucial role in the development of new products and the sustaining efforts of existing products, with a focus on embedded systems that encompass hardware design, firmware development, and product performance testing. The Engineer II will work closely with a multi-discipline team, contributing to product support issues, custom troubleshooting, and validation testing. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to various test scenarios. The ideal candidate will assist in defining test plans and product implementations, ensuring that all aspects of the product meet the necessary specifications and performance standards. In this position, you will be responsible for providing product support and sustaining engineering, performing product and design verification tests, and assisting in the definition of plans and production implementations. You will also write and validate procedures, initiate engineering change requests, and design components or portions of projects. As a mentor to Engineer I, you will participate actively in project teams, contributing to project schedules, budgets, and risk assessments. Responsibilities

  • Provide product support and sustaining engineering.
  • Perform product and design verification tests.
  • Assist in defining plans and production implementations.
  • Write procedures and validate/audit/review them.
  • Initiate and implement engineering change requests.
  • Design components or portions of a project.
  • Act as a mentor to Engineer I.
  • Participate actively in project teams, developing or providing input into project schedules, budgets, and risks.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree with specialization in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • 3 years of on-the-job circuit design experience, preferably analog, including schematic design and simulation or test.
  • 3+ years work fluency with PCB design packages like Cadence, Altium, PCAD, etc.
  • 3+ years of work experience with embedded firmware modification and test.
  • Experience working in C or C++.
  • Ability to define problems, test scenarios, troubleshoot product issues, implement solutions, and communicate results.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working experience with designing for compliance to regulatory approval (Haz-loc, CE/EMC, etc).
  • Ability to operate on a manufacturing floor.
  • Demonstrated strong initiative and motivation.
  • Demonstrated appropriate judgment and decision-making for their level of authority.
