About the position

As a Hardware Qualification Engineer in Apple's Battery Engineering group, you will be responsible for qualifying battery system hardware technology for next-generation consumer electronics. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the quality of battery packs from concept to mass production, developing qualification plans, managing suppliers, and resolving technical challenges. You will play a key role in innovating new battery technologies that enhance product experiences for customers worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Qualify battery system hardware technology for next-generation consumer electronics.
  • Develop qualification plans and manage suppliers and test engineer teams for execution and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the quality of battery packs from concept to mass production.
  • Interpret and review electronic specifications and approve battery BMU and pack designs.
  • Develop validation plans and test procedures, and review schematics and layouts for testability.
  • Supervise test engineer teams and vendor partners on validation execution.
  • Analyze, debug, and report test results, and conduct investigations for problems or issues.
  • Review simulations and calculations.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in analog or power electronics design.
  • Experience in electronic circuit design/development with mixed signal systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in Power Electronics, Battery Management, Portable Consumer Electronics, Medical Electronics, or Automotive Electronics.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout design for mixed signal boards (Cadence, Altium, etc.).
  • Proficient with protocols like SMBus, I2C, SPMI.
  • Experience with scripting for test automation and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of battery charging and management is a plus.
  • Experience in statistical analysis is a plus.
