About the position

As a Hardware Qualification Engineer within our Battery Engineering group, you will play a pivotal role in innovating and qualifying battery systems for next-generation consumer electronics. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about invention and eager to push the boundaries of what is feasible in battery technology. You will be responsible for crafting creative battery solutions that deliver enhanced energy efficiency in compact designs, working collaboratively across various disciplines to integrate improved hardware elements into a cohesive design. Your contributions will directly impact the development of new battery technologies that consistently outperform previous iterations, enhancing the product experience for customers worldwide. In this role, you will utilize your expertise to qualify battery system hardware technology, ensuring that it meets the rigorous standards required for consumer electronics. As a member of the battery development core team, you will engage closely with cross-functional teams throughout the new product introduction process. Your responsibilities will include developing qualification plans, managing supplier relationships, and overseeing the test engineering team to execute these plans effectively. You will analyze data, resolve technical challenges, and ensure the quality of battery packs from concept through to mass production. Your role will also involve interpreting and reviewing electronic specifications, approving battery management unit (BMU) and pack designs, and developing validation plans and test procedures. You will review schematics and layouts to verify their conformance and testability, supervise the test engineering team and vendor partners during validation execution, and analyze, debug, and report on test results. Additionally, you will conduct investigations into any issues that arise and prepare detailed reports. Your work may require international travel to support development activities, making this a dynamic and engaging position.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a battery hardware qualification engineer or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of battery management systems and pack design.
  • Experience in developing qualification plans and managing supplier relationships.
  • Ability to analyze data and resolve technical challenges effectively.
  • Familiarity with electronic specifications and design review processes.
  • Experience in developing validation plans and test procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills to review schematics and layouts for conformance.
  • Ability to supervise and lead test engineering teams and vendor partners.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
