About the position

The Hardware / RF & DSP Design Engineer position at Engineering Design Team (EDT), Inc. is a critical role within our high-performance I/O interfaces team. We are seeking an experienced RF and DSP Engineer who will play a pivotal role in the development of our latest product line, which aims to integrate artificial intelligence into RF applications at the edge. This position is particularly focused on serving various sectors, including scientific research, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), industrial applications, and defense. As part of a small, high-performing team, the successful candidate will be expected to lead initiatives that push the boundaries of technology in these fields. In this role, you will be responsible for initiating and configuring digital signals, as well as developing sophisticated signal processing systems and algorithms. Your expertise in FPGA-based software-defined radio (SDR) design will be essential, as you will be tasked with creating and implementing innovative solutions that enhance our product offerings. You will also engage in schematic capture, layout, and component library development, with a preference for experience using Altium Designer. The ability to lay out mixed-signal PCBs or direct PCB layout efforts will be crucial to your success in this position. Additionally, you will be expected to troubleshoot and debug electronics and system-level issues, addressing challenges related to data throughput, grounding, and thermal management. Your experience in electronic warfare (EW), signals intelligence (SIGINT), or satellite communications (COMMs) will be considered a valuable asset. Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ and Python will also be required to support your engineering efforts.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years in RF and DSP design with an emphasis on Software Defined Radios (SDR).
  • Ability to initiate and configure digital signals and develop signal processing systems and algorithms.
  • FPGA based SDR (software defined radio) design experience.
  • Expertise with schematic capture, layout, component library development, and bill of material creation; preferably with Altium Designer.
  • Experience in laying out mixed signal PCBs or directing PCB layout.
  • Ability to bring up and debug electronics and system level issues; with expertise solving issues such as data throughput, grounding, and thermal management.
  • Experience in EW, SIGINT or satellite COMMs applications a plus.
  • Experience with C/C++, Python.
