About the position

The Hardware Specialist is a vital role within Fleet Farm, serving as the in-store expert for plumbing, electrical, hardware, and paint. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about household projects and renovations, and who enjoy helping others by sharing their expertise. As a Hardware Specialist, you will assist customers with their household projects, providing guidance and recommendations based on their specific needs. Your role will involve finding and suggesting the appropriate merchandise to help customers complete their projects successfully. In addition to customer assistance, you will provide expertise on various hardware services offered in-store, such as key cutting, material measuring and cutting, and sharpening. You will also be responsible for selling power equipment, including chainsaws, generators, and pressure washers. Educating both co-workers and customers about the basic products and services available is a key part of your responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to design and build merchandise displays to effectively market products to customers, as well as set planograms in the hardware section to optimize product placement. Understanding the flow of the retail floor is essential, as it will enable you to quickly assess customer needs and guide them to the desired products. You will also provide customer support for sales and special ordering of catalog accessories, promoting Fleet Farm's customer loyalty program, credit card, and other company initiatives. Additionally, possessing knowledge about local building codes will allow you to educate customers on where to find relevant information, enhancing their shopping experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with household projects in plumbing, electrical, paint, and hardware.
• Find and suggest proper merchandise based on customer needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
• 1-2 years of previous hardware sales or related experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of core plumbing, electrical, hardware, and paint products and services.
