About the position

The Hardware Support Engineer is a key member of the Technical Operations Hardware team at Siemens, responsible for ensuring operational excellence in the Siemens EDA emulation product line. This role involves supporting emulation products throughout their lifecycle, from installation to service retirement, with a focus on maintaining system uptime and resolving hardware issues efficiently. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to enhance system reliability and provide technical support to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Support emulation products from installation to service retirement.
  • Engage with customers to install, diagnose, and repair hardware.
  • Maintain system uptime and quickly resolve hardware issues.
  • Manage material dispositions of faulty hardware and maintain inventory levels of spare components.
  • Update systems to ensure accurate and timely data.
  • Perform site surveys at customer locations to ensure proper conditions for hardware installation.
  • Unbox, move, and assemble hardware stacks, load software, and perform initial checkout testing.
  • Provide operations support by collecting reports and data for global monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electronic or software engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex electronics hardware.
  • Experience with Linux OS and Microsoft Windows.
  • Familiarity with high-speed serial data technology and systems.
  • Strong technical communication and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow technical directions in writing and verbally.
  • Experience handling electronic parts and proper grounding procedures.
  • Experience working directly with customers.
  • Knowledge of server and network technology is highly desired.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and flexibility to travel on short notice regularly.
  • Ability to work in remote customer locations while communicating with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Physical strength to move 50 to 70 pounds and work on feet for long hours.
