About the position

Upon joining our team as a Hardware System Integrator, you will be directly applying your engineering expertise and working with many cross-functional teams to realize products that consumers will love! We collaborate with a large number of groups to bring a product from concept to mass production. Our goal is to help define exciting product features that will touch our customers. Therefore you'll have the ability to solve challenging engineering problems by selecting components, designing schematics, directing layout, and bringing up/ debugging circuits in the lab. You will work alongside partner teams to realize prototypes to aid in product definition and user testing. You will have access to state-of-the-art test equipment in labs to perform characterization of your circuits. You will also be able to define test criteria and execute these test plans on functional prototypes to demonstrate the robustness of your designs. There will be occasional travel domestically and overseas to work alongside our manufacturing partners. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills and proactive collaboration. You are curious-minded, always seeking to learn while offering your expertise to teach and help others.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering expertise to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Select components, design schematics, and direct layout for circuit designs.
  • Bring up and debug circuits in the lab environment.
  • Work alongside partner teams to realize prototypes for product definition and user testing.
  • Perform characterization of circuits using state-of-the-art test equipment.
  • Define test criteria and execute test plans on functional prototypes.
  • Demonstrate the robustness of designs through testing.
  • Engage in occasional domestic and overseas travel to work with manufacturing partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years relevant experience designing electronics and/or embedded systems.
  • Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals (high speed buses, analog/digital design, signal/power integrity, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping, bring-up, debug, and validation.
  • Comfortable in a lab environment using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency counters, etc.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience designing high volume products from beginning to end and dealing with contract manufacturers.
  • Familiar with leading PCB technology and electrical design and characterization of PCIe, USB, Display Port, MIPI, and I2C/SPI/UART buses.
  • Knowledge in CPU/SOC, power management, analog circuits, audio/camera/display/wireless integration, and sensor design.
  • Experience designing hardware for USB specification compliant devices.
  • Experience working with mechanical design and software development teams.
  • Expertise in board CAD tools including Cadence Concept & Allegro.
