About the position

As a Hardware System Integration Lead at Apple, you will leverage your engineering expertise to collaborate with cross-functional teams in the development of innovative products. This role involves solving complex engineering challenges, selecting components, designing schematics, and debugging circuits, all while ensuring that the products meet the needs of consumers. You will have access to advanced testing equipment and will be responsible for defining test criteria and executing plans on prototypes. The position also requires domestic and international travel to work with product teams and manufacturing partners.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering expertise to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Select components and design schematics for hardware systems.
  • Direct layout and bring up/debug circuits in the lab.
  • Define test criteria and execute test plans on functional prototypes.
  • Perform characterization of circuits using state-of-the-art test equipment.
  • Work alongside distributed product teams and manufacturing partners during travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience designing electronics and/or embedded systems.
  • Strong fundamentals in Electrical Engineering, including high-speed buses and analog/digital design.
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping, bring-up, debug, and validation.
  • Comfortable in a lab environment using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and frequency counters.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience designing high volume products from beginning to end.
  • Familiarity with leading PCB technology and electrical design for PCIe, USB, Display Port, MIPI, and I2C/SPI/UART buses.
  • Knowledge in CPU/SOC, power management, analog circuits, and wireless integration.
  • Experience designing hardware for USB specification compliant devices.
  • Expertise in board CAD tools including Cadence Concept & Allegro.
