About the position

Trimble is seeking a Systems Test Engineer to join their Military & Advanced Systems division in Sunnyvale, CA. The role involves designing, developing, and implementing cost-effective methods for qualification verification testing of high-performance embedded GPS navigation receivers. The engineer will support products throughout their lifecycle, from initial development to end of life, ensuring quality and performance through rigorous testing and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare requirements-based test and diagnostic programs, design test plans, procedures, fixtures and equipment.
  • Develop test automation of procedures, scenarios, equipment, and data analysis.
  • Perform formal periodic test reviews.
  • Analyze system behavior under operating scenarios to improve test efficiency and product performance.
  • Lead the design, development, integration, and release of test stations and techniques.
  • Define, outline and perform the training and sustaining activity required to successfully manage test verification programs.
  • Document methodology for test requirements, plans, procedures, and results.
  • Develop, draft, release and maintain test procedures, and perform related Configuration Management activity.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of released test documentation.
  • Develop and publish product qualification test reports.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), or equivalent from an accredited institution with four years of relevant post-graduate experience.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and documenting formal test plans, procedures, cases, and reports traced to functional and performance requirements.
  • Hands-on manipulation of signal generators, signal simulators, and signal measurement equipment including oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • Test automation experience using scripting languages such as Python and custom test fixtures.
  • Data manipulation, screening, organization, processing, and reporting experience with Excel and custom programming.
  • Track record demonstrating rigorous documentation, record keeping, formal configuration management, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required.
