About the position

As a Hardware Systems Engineer at Apple, you will play a pivotal role in the Mac hardware team, contributing to the design and development of innovative Mac products. This position requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles and a passion for creating high-quality computing devices that users have come to expect from Apple. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from concept through to production, ensuring that each product meets the high standards of quality and performance that Apple is known for. In this role, you will collaborate closely with various engineering teams, including mechanical, software, silicon, and other module teams such as wireless, battery, camera, sensing, and display. Your responsibilities will include designing logic boards, integrating new technologies, and debugging electrical issues. You will also be responsible for PCB and flex (FPC) design, electrical circuit validation, and supporting factory builds from New Product Introduction (NPI) through product ramp. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of hardware and software, contributing to the next generation of Apple products that continue the legacy of the Mac. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical engineering, with experience in schematic capture and PCB layout using Cadence tools or similar. You will need to be proficient in using standard lab equipment for PCB bringup, debug, and validation. Additionally, you should possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present your ideas clearly. Responsibilities

  • PCB and flex (FPC) design

  • Electrical failure debug from reliability, factory, validation, or QA testing

Requirements

  • Strong EE fundamentals grounded in a solid understanding of E&M physics and first principles
  • Background in schematic capture and constraint-driven PCB layout using Cadence tools or similar
  • Experience with PCB bringup, debug, and validation using standard lab equipment e.g. DMM, Oscilloscope, Power Supply, Electronic Load, Logic Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in circuit design for a variety of domains including power, digital, analog, and high-speed communications
  • Understanding of computer architecture and product design tradeoffs
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets in order to provide insightful analysis coupled with strong visualizations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • Eagerness to take on new challenges, learn new skills, and continuously develop
  • Strong sense of ownership and the ability to handle tasks comprehensively from start to finish
